The Boat

The Holiday is an 85’ X 24’ proven fishing platform out of Point Loma Sportfishing. She is owned and operated by Tim and Sue Voaklander . The Holiday is equipped with 40 bunks, 2 hot showers, 2 heads, and a clean hot galley. They recently added a boost blower to circulate A/C and all bunks have new bunk pads. They have a new 5 ton fish hold to make sure you don’t need to worry about the freshness of your catch. A lot of time, money, and blood has been spent making sure the Holiday is safe and reliable. Your bathrooms will be clean, crew will say please and thank you, and the boat will depart and return in a scheduled fashion. The Holiday has plenty of deck space, enough bait, and she gets bit!

The Captain

Tim Voaklander has been fishing since an albacore ticket cost less than 20 dollars. He began pin heading, decking and cooking on sportfishing boats in the late 1960’s. In 1972, he received his 100 ton master license, and has since upgraded to 500 ton with an oceans and master of towing endorsement. Not only does Tim sportfishing, he also fished 8 commercial seasons (6 albacore, 2 yellowfin); all jig and bait fishing. Tim has taken 100’s of thousands of men, women, and children fishing, and has had many successful fishing, and fortunately, “catching” trips. Most importantly, he will fish where he has the best chance of hooking and catching quality sportfish, all the while being grateful for the experience the “fish gods” have given him.

Holiday 2010

The Holiday will focus on overnight, day and a half, and two day trips. We will run a simple open party ticket and schedule all year long. The Holiday 2010 operation will be clean, polite and safe!!!
